Cat Eccles MP pays respect at Mary Stevens Remembrance Service
Cat Eccles MP attended the Remembrance Service at Mary Stevens Park on Sunday 10th November 2024, to commemorate the British and Commonwealth military and civilian servicemen and women involved in the two world wars and later conflicts. The following day, Cat also paid her respects on the 106th Armistice Day in Mary Stevens Park.
Cat was accompanied by Cllr Jason Griffin of Wollaston & Stourbridge Town, and Cllr Mohammed Hanif of Lye & Stourbridge North. Cat sent delegates to other Remembrance events around the constituency to place a wreath in her name. Cllr Pete Lowe and Cllr Ellen Cobb attended a service at Christ Church in Lye. Cllr Matt Cook attended a walk to the memorial outside St Michael’s Church in Brierley Hill. Cllr Elaine Taylor attended a service at St Andrews Church, and Cllr Qasim Mughal attended a service at the Church of St Augustine, both in Netherton.
Cat said:
“The service at Mary Stevens was deeply moving. It was an honour to be a part of an event that is of such national significance, but also deeply engrained in our local community. I spoke with the service personnel after the event to pay my respects and my gratitude for the freedoms they have protected for all of us.”
